Recently, I received the most wonderful invitation to interview Samyama Flowering Tree, author of the book “Karttikeyan Yoga Nidra: A Course Manual on Eastern Guided Imagery and Creative Visualization.” I accepted and spoke with Samyama to prepare for a more formal recording this week. One of my greatest pleasures is spending time doing guided meditations and creative visualizations. After we spoke, I jumped over to Amazon to download a copy of her book.
For those of you who know my own writings, you know that one step in our Manifesting Your Dreams roadmap is to identify our purpose – our dreams – by developing a relationship with our Inner or Higher Self. This was the subject of one of the very first meditations in Samyama’s book.
Starting right with the cover, this book is an invitation to begin the journey to transform our consciousness. The book itself is a tool to support and nurture us through changes in our lives, our awareness & perceptions and even our DNA. It is designed to help us release limiting beliefs that may be stopping us from evolving on all levels – health, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Each successive meditation is part of a ladder or blueprint of consciousness that inevitably takes us to an improved state of being.
Samyama’s teachings come from the lineage of Mahavatar Babaji and his sister, Shree Mataji. They are part of the Taoist Yogi-Christ tradition and share the gifts of Universal consciousness and unconditional love. Each seeker who participates gains a deeper level of truth appropriate to their evolution. As I read the introduction to learn about this selfless servant to the spiritual development of all mankind, I went back in time to a period when Agni Yoga touched my life. It felt good to pause for a moment to take in those energies.
Samyama began her studies as a young child, learning a tradition that encouraged her to be here now, in the world, but not of it, to be present every moment. She learned by doing and by storytelling. By 15, she was drawn to the special value of words, especially as spoken. Originally from the Phillipines, Samyama came to the U.S. and, not surprisingly, studied speech therapy at Pace College in New York. She has always resonated with the spoken word as a healing tool, cleansing the chakras, bringing both rest and wisdom
I am honored to have Samyama Flowering Tree join me on the phone to share insights into her book, Karttikeyam Yoga Nidra: A Course on Guided Imagery and Creative Viualization. You are welcome to join us Sunday, May 17th at 1:00pm Pacific Time (4:00pm Eastern Time).
